Complices de Loire

François-Xavier Barc used to run a famous domaine in Chinon for many years and he got the possibility with a close friend in St Nicholas de Bourgueil to create his own venture. He started the partnership in 2010 to produce good quality and affordable wines from vineyards along the Loire river vallée.

Their production comes from eight Touraine areas, the main one being in Bourgueil where their winery is located, but extending all the way to the villages of Chinon, Vouvray, Saumur and Montlouis.

Thanks to trustful relationships, he established long term contract on selected parcels of interest, practicing lower yields and reasonable farming with a focus on the fruit quality.

Philosophy

Vinification is traditional and by harvesting ripe and using drastic viticultural methods, he is able to get the highest quality of fruit.

The wines are fruity with round tannins and pleasant to drink in the true spirit of the Loire wines.

The red wines vary in style from light-bodied and fruity (similar in many ways to good Beaujolais) to structured, middleweight wines with complex notes of undergrowth, pencil shavings, and spiced black berries. The latter style might be compared to Cabernet Franc-dominant wines from the cooler parts of Bordeaux.

Complices de loire offers a full range of  Bourgueil, Chinon and Saumur Champigny wines and also varietals bottlings of Pinot noir from Touraine.
